Chiropractic is a healing practice that works directly with the master control center of the body - the central
nervous system. This system is made up of your brain and spinal cord and branches off into nerves that
supply every single muscle, tissue, organ and cell in the body. Chiropractors assess for areas of stored
tension or interference in the body and, through adjustments, help your nervous system process and

integrate these imbalances. Chiropractic adjustments give your body the awareness and tools to self-
regulate at a higher capacity.

Sessions are individualized according to each person's unique system, often including light-force methods
as well as the traditional manual adjustments more commonly associated with chiropractic care.
Drawing from numerous modalities, chiropractic care can include a variety of approaches: Diversified,
Webster Protocol, Activator/SLI (spring-loaded instrument), Bio-Geometric Integration, Craniosacral
Therapy, Reiki, prenatal and postpartum care, drop table, Dynamic Body Balancing, extremity adjusting,
pediatric care, and intraoral/TMJ (temporomandibular joint) work.

NON RMT Massage

Hi, I’m Monica, and I hope I get to meet you one day! Here’s my story - thanks for reading.

I began my journey in the healing arts as a personal trainer in 1998.   Eventually this led me to pursue a career in massage - I completed the Thai Massage Practitioner Program and Therapeutic Touch Training, which made me hungry for more knowledge.  As a result, I sought out more training in modalities such as Trigger Point Therapy, Raindrop Therapy, and Thai Herbal Compress Massage.

After years of practicing, I realized I wanted to help people on a deeper level, working with internal medicine - which made me enroll in Chinese Medicine school. I received my Diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine - which totaled 3,450 hours of training over four and a half years of intensive full-time study. I am currently registered as a Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner, Chinese Herbalist, and Acupuncturist through the CTCMA.

I also finds great enjoyment instructing at the Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences, teaching core subjects - which truly allows me to stay current with my knowledge.

For years, I studied and certified in Injection Therapy and Prolotherapy, and apprenticed under Dr. Joel Kailia for a year. Even though I am not currently not offering these services due to changes in regulations, the experience has brought me a much deeper understanding of the human body,

Most recently, I completed a program in Manual Osteopathy, which has rounded out my proficiencies in delivering effective treatments.

I believe you’ll find that my personality is friendly and caring, and I am vigilant in delivering safe treatments for my patients.  I take pride in having intent listening skills, and focused treatments, which are sure to provide results.    I am particularly passionate about providing relief and lasting results to patients who feel hopeless about their chronic pain.

With two decades of experience working with the human body, you can be sure that I’ll try my absolute best to address your needs.

Hope to see you soon!

Warmly,

Monica Ander

I started practicing as a RMT in 2007 and have been an instructor for Kootenay Columbia College of Registered Massage Therapy in Nelson since 2017. In 2022 I finished my Diploma in Osteopathy Manual Practice (DOMP).

My passion as a therapist has always been about finding a way to ReBalance the body through structural manipulations and incorporating soft tissue mobilizations. I practice using various techniques such as: joint mobilizations, myofascial release, cranial osteopathy, visceral manipulation, muscle energy techniques. I also trained in GaitScan technology and sell orthotics in order to better serve you. I am super passionate about how the body moves and ways to help you keep moving as pain free as possible and have found orthotics to be an amazing application to treat certain conditions.

Important to note the way I perform a treatment is primarily from the focus of a Manual Osteopath, however, I am able to bill your extended health benefits as a RMT. Massage therapy is my roots into body work and I will always use the skills I’ve learned as a RMT in my session with you.
